Optical System Design Using OpticStudio (ONLINE)


This course provides a solid introduction to the OpticStudio sequential design environment. Attendees gain experience using the OpticStudio interface to model, analyze, optimize, and tolerance simple sequential systems.

Note: This course does not teach optical design principles. It teaches how to use the OpticStudio sequential modeling environment to meet your design needs.

  • Day 1: Introduction to OpticStudio
  • Day 2: Overview of optimization
  • Day 3: 3D systems and multiple configurations
  • Day 4: Tolerancing simple systems
  • Day 5: End-to-end example of designing and tolerancing a system based on user specifications

Skills Gained
  • Model and analyze the performance of simple sequential systems in OpticStudio
  • Build merit functions to optimize system performance
  • Identify system sensitivities and predict manufacturing and assembly yields

Prerequisites
Knowledge of fundamental optical concepts or completion of the Fundamentals of Optics course.

Because the training is conducted using a virtual lab, attendees need a broadband connection to connect to a remote classroom computer. Access to OpticStudio is not required. Information about online training, including system requirements, can be found in our Instructions for Online Training Part 1 and Part 2.
