Diffractive optics are useful surfaces to have in your optical design toolbox. Diffractive optical elements can be used in a variety of applications including spectroscopy, beam shapers, athermalization, and correction of chromatic aberrations. It is critical to understand how OpticStudio models diffractive optics, and the tools that are offered to create and manage the surface.
